The changes you need to know about onlyfans and explicit material – sinparty blog
Update: OnlyFans informed creators via Twitter and email on August 26, 2021 that it had suspended changes to its Acceptable Use Policy. As a record of industry developments, the rest of this article is unchanged.
OnlyFans was not the first site that allowed amateur content creators to make videos for sale, but it has become the largest.
OnlyFans was founded in the UK in 2016 and has grown to a billion-dollar company from creators of all types posting content, while taking 20% of their income. While everyone has been welcomed, porn workers and sex workers are being marginalized.
What is it all about? What is the significance of OnlyFans' dramatic changes? We will answer all your burning questions.

What's changed at OnlyFans
OnlyFans made an unexpected announcement via email to the media on Thursday night EST. They announced that they would ban sexually explicit content starting October 1, 2021.
Although the company is valued at $1billion, it has struggled to attract investors because so much of its income comes via pornography or adult content.
OnlyFans released a statement on August 19th stating that "To ensure the long-term viability of our platform and keep our inclusive community of creators, fans, and supporters, we must update our content guidelines."
Creators on the platform received an email on August 20th at 5 PM Eastern outlining the changes.
OnlyFans sent an email to creators that said:
"The new policy will ban the posting of any new content that contains explicit sexual content. As long as the policy is in compliance, content containing nudity can be continued to be permitted.
It then informs creators that they have until December 1, 2021 to remove any content that isn't in compliance with the new policy.
What will the new OnlyFans policy look like?
Only Fans included a link in the email they sent to their updated Acceptable Use Policy. These important changes to the policy now state that the following items will be banned
Actual and simulated sexual intercourse between any two persons, whether they are of any sex, is possible.
Masturbation, real or simulated;
Exhibiting the anus or male genitals of another person in an extreme or offensive manner;
Real or simulated material showing bodily fluids often secreted during sexual activity
The OnlyFans policy is not yet available. However, the information above was taken from an email sent to the creators.
How has OnlyFans communicated to their creators?
OnlyFans' message was changing throughout Friday, August 20, 2018. Support staff responded to emails, DMs via Twitter and messages on Facebook, denying that the changes had occurred.
Multiple screenshots online showed that concerned creators were told not to believe "untrustworthy information" and were informed, "We do not plan on moving away from adult content, and would have informed them upfront if that would ever happen."
Although the time zone in which the message was sent cannot be confirmed, it appears to have been at 2.13pm. This could have occurred just hours before the email went out to all creators.
Other support channels OnlyFans also rejected the change in hours leading up to the announcement. Numerous creators were concerned when they received the reply, "[O]ur website...will continue and will always permit explicit content."
This news was then attributed to the new OnlyFans app, which will be available on iOS and Android later in the year. The rules and regulations of the app store prohibit the sale of NSFW content. This is why the app will be SFW. It will not allow explicit content to remain within their regulations." The same message was also sent.
The time zone in which the messages were received cannot be verified. However, a message with the following text was stamped at 12.07pm, and another at 1.01pm.
How did OnlyFans grow to be a well-known platform?
You have many options on the internet to monetize porn content you create.
OnlyFans' mix of NSFW and wholesome content was not stigmatizing as PornHub, which had its own problems in December 2020 with this type of content.
It's:
Accessible
It is very easy to use
Priced well with a 20% service charge
This is in contrast to the cam sites where creators perform for paying customers. They can take well above a half-off of earnings.
The site was certainly helped by the COVID-19 pandemic. Because strip clubs around the globe were under lockdown, and there was less opportunity to have sex, people turned to creators to make special requests.
OnlyFans allows users to contact creators directly, which is not possible on porn sites like PornHub. They can request custom videos to satisfy their fetishes and kinks.
The company has seen tremendous growth, with over 1 million creators, 50,000,000 subscribers, and $2billion in payments to creators since its inception.
This is changing, however.
What is the reason that OnlyFans has banned explicit content?
Like Patreon in 2017, OnlyFans succumbed to the demands of its payment processors.
Patreon was a platform that encouraged sex workers to make explicit content and earn regular income. It tried to fight PayPal's ban on sexual content being paid through its platform.
Patreon had received $60 million in investment by 2017 and had flipped its rules to ban sexual content a month later.
It all sounds familiar, right?
OnlyFans clearly stated that onlyFans made the changes due to external pressures. Citing again the email creators;
We must rely more on large banks and payment processors in order to facilitate payments between creators and fans. These financial institutions require that we comply with these new rules.
OnlyFans is pursuing greater returns in the future and has abandoned sex workers.
Other pressures were also present. The BBC published an investigation on underage content on OnlyFans in May 2021. It quoted British police as saying that a 14-year old had an account approved using their grandmother's passport.
This kind of scrutiny has attracted unwanted attention to the site, and large businesses that work with OnlyFans have demanded tough action.
Where can onlyFans sell adult content creators' photos and videos, if not OnlyFans?
What are the alternatives for OnlyFans?
Now, creators are scrambling for a website that will host their content, and not abandon them when the mainstream arrives.
SinParty, a brand new website, is soon to release its entire set of tools for content creators. Although the concept is very similar, SinParty sells porn content to subscribers or one-off buyers. But what makes SinParty different from OnlyFans or other creator platforms?
All your fans in one feed
Only one feed is required for creators and only one link to allow their fans to access their content. Public content is available for anyone to see. This includes cheeky nudes or 10-second teasers. The paywall can be added to steamier content. This will make it less visible for non-paying subscribers, but allow those who have subscribed to see.
Content can be purchased by anyone.
You can also post teasers or subscriber-exclusive content.
Anyone can buy a locked VIP video that looks exactly like you do, without needing to subscribe to anything else.
Professionals are your content
SinParty is both a porn site and a creator website. We host porn created by well-known studios, including porn stars such as Brandi Love, Abella Danger and Lena Paul.
When our visitors search for content online, VIP videos will be displayed alongside it. This means that they can purchase your videos once they have viewed the free content.
We bring the audience.
We want creators to succeed so we make it easy to get buyers, users, and subscribers. While they may be attracted to the free porn clips, they will also stay for the custom content you create.
Protection for the creator
We understand how frustrating it can be for creators when buyers tell you that they aren't satisfied with your custom video or refuse to pay after you have made it.
SinParty allows you to make a custom request using our process. You provide the buyer with a description of what you want and then they pay a fee. We will keep the payment in reserve until you have sent your content, protecting both parties.
OnlyFans is the best alternative
SinParty supports sex workers, explicit content and is committed to that goal. We won't change this. Get more information about our creator program, and sign up for it.
